Depart on the Saturday morning (after the first week of class) for Arenal. Once in the area, students stop by Lake Arenal, take a guided hike along one of the lush trails to observe wildlife native to the region, spend the early evening bathing and relaxing at the hot springs with its spectacular view of the volcano, and dine leisurely at the hot springs resort. If the volcano is active on this day, you can see and hear impressive lava eruptions. On Sunday morning hike to the Catarata La Fortuna and swim in the natural pools at the base of the waterfall.
